Organisational structure
How headquarters, directorates, units and regions fit together.
The Ministry operates through a headquarters in Banjul and eight Regional Education Directorates. Technical directorates set policy, standards and programmes; regions and schools deliver them.
Three operating layers
- Headquarters: political leadership, technical directorates and specialist units
- Regional Education Directorates: regional coordination and school support in all Regional Education Directorates
- Schools and centres: delivery of learning to children and young people
Coordination
Sector coordination with development partners takes place through standing forums including Coordinating Committee Meetings and Local Education Group arrangements. Records of individual meetings are added once confirmed.
